Trailer Trash-Amelia

2 time Oscar winner Hilary Swank brings an American legend to life in this new movie. I am in love with this movie poster. Now I have a feeling that this is one of those films that will get Oscar nods, major Oscar nods, however I’ll be sitting in the theater looking at my watch half way through. It happens all the time, and it doesn’t mean the flick isn’t good but not every movie has the perfect amount of space between the highs and lows. I’ll gladly take a few glances of my watch to staring at my second hand throughout the entire movie (ahem…Benjamin Button – yawn…still haven’t seen the ending…still don’t care)

Alice in Burtonland anyone…this looks like it could be cool-very Labyrinth meets Blade Runner (the Mad Hatter slightly resembles the scary robot character)…wonder if Johnny Depp will have a Scissorhands look alike moment in this movie like he did in Sweeny Todd…I’m already having nightmares.

Trailer Trash – Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

July 12, 2009

I just bought my ticket to the midnight showing of HPATHBP (that looks funny…that’s why I did it). My sister is a freak when it comes to wizards and vampires so it was her idea to go at the very first second we could. Now I’m a fan of the books, I went and bought Deathly Hollows at midnight and read it in a weekend. But I haven’t been a big supporter of the movies. One of my major complaints: they didn’t wait until the series was finished being written before making the blockbusters. So many things are going to end up being missed because facts and little hidden details that add up along the way are now missing from the movie since no one (including JK) knew what exactly was going to happen. But the last HP movie, Order of the Phoenix, I actually started liking. David Yates directs the 6th installment, too (only the second director allowed to do another one…another complaint of mine – NOTHING is consistant…it drives me crazy!)

Whoa, other countries talk about going to war, too? Crazy. I’m going to see this one….mainly because Sundance audiences loved it and James Gandolfini (if you saw how I spelt that on accident you would have thought it was something you could catch by jumping in bed with someone) is in it (with no NJ accent!). Plus, I think I see the girl from My Girl! Exciting. and the main guy was in Pride and Prejudice…the older one with Colin Firth as Mr. Darcy. Good poster.

Trailer Trash-The Hurt Locker

July 11, 2009

I have a new goal. I am going to try to see at least one trailer a day to write about, gotta keep it fresh. plus trailers don’t cost a thing!

I think I just found my next father/daughter flick. The Hurt Locker, set in Iraq follows a guy  who disables bombs. I know. Whoa, right? So I clicked because of the poster. It is an intriguing one…check it out here http://www.apple.com/trailers/summit/thehurtlocker/small.html

Looks like a good amount of action (obviously) – those slow motion explosion scenes look intense – with a mix of wit. My favorite. It’s playing here, so maybe I’ll go check it out. If you get there first, let me know what you think!
